YC Demo Day — 60 seconds in front of the most concentrated pool of seed capital on earth.
Every YC batch ends the same way: ~200 founders, ~1,500 vetted investors, one minute per pitch. Here's how the format actually works, when the next ones happen, and what founders are raising in 2026.
The format, in one paragraph
You get ~60 seconds on a black stage in San Francisco. You show one slide — usually a growth chart or a screenshot of the product. You end with the ask (round size, current cap, existing commits). No live Q&A. Then you walk off, and the searchable directory profile does the rest of the work over the following 48 hours.
The two weeks before Demo Day
YC partners run 3–5 pitch rehearsals per company. The first rehearsal usually gets cut to shreds — anything that isn't (1) the traction number, (2) the market, (3) the founder edge, or (4) the ask gets deleted. Michael Seibel has said publicly: "If the audience doesn't remember one number, you failed."
The directory profile matters as much as the pitch. Every investor filters the batch by category, then reads the top-of-directory blurb before deciding who to email. Founders spend 20+ hours iterating on ~200 words.
What founders actually raise
- 2021–2022 (ZIRP peak): Top companies closed $5M–$20M on $50M–$100M post caps within 48 hours. Every company got a term sheet.
- 2023–2024 (correction): Medians settled around $2M–$4M on $15M–$25M caps. Roughly 30% of the batch didn't close a full round within a month.
- 2025 (AI wave): AI-native companies in W25 and S25 returned to boom-era terms. Non-AI companies stayed at 2023 medians.
2026 Demo Day calendar

FAQ
What is YC Demo Day?
YC Demo Day is the invite-only event at the end of every Y Combinator batch where founders present their startup to a curated audience of ~1,500 investors. Each company gets ~1 minute on stage plus a searchable directory profile. It's the launch pad for the batch's fundraising round.
When is the next YC Demo Day?
YC runs 3–4 batches per year and Demo Day happens in the final week. W25's Demo Day was March 18, 2025. S25's ran in September 2025. F25 Demo Day is in December 2025, and W26 Demo Day is expected in late March 2026. See our YC 2026 batch page for the full calendar.
How long is a YC Demo Day pitch?
Roughly 60 seconds on stage, delivered to a room (and livestream) of vetted investors. YC partners coach founders through 3–5 rehearsal rounds in the two weeks before, cutting anything that isn't the traction number, the market, the ask, or the founder's edge.
Can I attend YC Demo Day as an investor?
Demo Day is invite-only. YC curates the investor list — accredited investors, funds, and angels with a track record. Investors apply via the YC investor portal and get access to the founder directory 24–48 hours before pitches.
How much do YC startups raise at Demo Day?
It varies wildly. In the 2021–2022 boom, top companies closed $5M–$20M seed rounds at $50M–$100M post-money within 48 hours. In 2023–2024, medians settled at $2M–$4M on $15M–$25M caps. AI-native companies in W25 and S25 saw a return to boom-era terms.
Is YC Demo Day live-streamed?
No — pitches are private to the invited investor audience. Founders receive their pitch video afterward for use in their own outreach. Any video that circulates publicly is either a partner replay from YC's channel or an unauthorized recording.
